GMC Savana Diesel Cargo Van

Unfortunately GMC hasn't provided that many details about

What GMC has stated is that the Duramax diesel engine option
is available on four of the five Savana Cargo van models.
There is no diesel engine option for the smallest and cheapest
Savana Cargo van model the 1500. The Duramax is available
as option on the four larger Savana Cargo vans the 2500 small
cargo van, 2500 extended wheelbase, the 3500 and the 3500
extended wheelbase.
The Duramax is GMC's brand-new powerful clean diesel designed
to compete with Dodge's Cummins Turbo Diesel. The Duramax
is also available in a variety of GMC vehicles including Chevy
Express vans, Chevy Silverado pickup trucks, GMC Sierra Pickup
trucks and the brand new GMC Denali pickup. Duramax provides
11-percent more fuel efficiency than GMC's previous diesel
and delivers more power.
The price range would probably be about the same as that
for the diesel Chevy Express. The base price for the Savanas
is between $26,000 and $31,000.
A Good All-around Work Van
The rear-wheel drive Savana Cargo is one of the most versatile
work vans on the market today. It is loaded with features
that are normally associated with pickup trucks and SUVs so
the diesel Savana Cargo should be worth the extra price.
One of the top features on the Savana Cargo is the Tow/Haul
mode. This feature provides special gearing that makes it
easier for the van to pull heavy loads. A tire pressure monitoring
system is designed to alert drivers to low tires and other
problems.
A locking-rear differential evenly distributes power to both
rear wheels by automatically sensing wheel spin. That means
the Savana Cargo should have more traction in unpaved areas
and on slippery roads. GMC's Stabilitrak electronic stability
system is standard on the Savana, which should increase its
safety.
All-wheel drive is available on the half-ton version of the
Savana Cargo. That would make that van an ideal diesel powered
delivery vehicle.
The standard Savana Cargo van comes loaded with features
including OnStar Satellite navigation, XM satellite radio,
front bucket seats, air conditioning, power steering and a
four speed automatic transmission. A slightly upgraded Savana
Pro version of the Savana Cargo is available as well.
The standard hauling capacity for the 2500 Savana Cargo van
with Duramax Diesel is 2,390 pounds. The extended model of
the 2500 can haul 2,171. The 3500 Savana Cargo van with Duramax
can haul 3,343 pounds of cargo. The extended version of the
3500 can haul 3,438 pounds of cargo. The cargo volume for
the Savana Cargo 2500 or 3500 is 270.4 cubic feet. The cargo
volume for the extended Savana Cargo 2500 or 3500 is 313.9
cubic feet.
Therefore the Savana Cargo with Duramax diesel would be a
good choice for businesses looking for a basic delivery vehicle.
It is not as fancy as the Chevy Express but the Savana Cargo
will get the job done.
